In total, there are 20 posts for graduates and 95 posts for 10th-pass candidates.
Who can apply for Konkan Railways Vacancies?
Although these posts are very attractive, but KCRL has applied the following conditions for candidates:
- Land loser candidates: Candidates whose land has been acquired for the Konkan Railways projects will be given preference for the jobs – The certificate has been provided in the notification.
- Domicile candidates: Candidates who are domiciled in Maharashtra, Goa, or Karnataka can apply for the job.
These are the major conditions for eligibility. A separate merit list will be prepared for the final recruitment.
3 years extra age relaxation in Age limit
As you know, for most railway jobs the age limit is usually from 18-33 years. However, this year a special concession has been made as there was no recruitment for 3 years due to the pandemic. So this year age limit has been modified to enable candidates aged 36 years to apply for the job. The cut-off date will 1/8/2024. Of course, this age concession is on top of the community/category age concession.
The selection process for Konkan Railway Jobs

The post-wise recruitment process for Konkan Railways
- Station Master (SM) and Assistant Loco Pilot(ALP)
- For these posts, the selection process is: First, the CBT written exam will be held in November; Candidates who qualify for the CBT exam will be called for the Computer-Based Aptitude Test.
- Senior Section Engineer (Civil/Electrical), Goods Train Manager (GTM), Commercial Supervisor, Technician-III, and ESTM
- For these positions, the CBT written exam will be followed by the Document Verification stage. So there’s no aptitude test.
- Pointsman and Track Maintainer
- For these posts, the CBT written exam will be followed by Document Verification, and Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
- PET – Physical Efficiency Test is as follows: The male candidate will need to complete a 1000-meter run in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one chance. And Female candidates will need to complete a 400-meter run in 3 minutes and 10 seconds in one chance.
Preference for various railway posts
The good news is you can apply for more than one post. the only exception is for the Technician-III/Electrical post and Technician-III/Mechanical post. Candidates can apply for only one of these two posts. Otherwise, you can apply and provide your preference for any post through the online application form.
However, this preference for the posts will be considered final and there’s no provision for modification by the Railways after the final form submission. So ensure you complete your form with great care.
